Eurostar, the high-speed passenger rail service between the UK and mainland Europe, today reported solid growth in passenger and sales revenues in the second quarter of 2019, with passenger numbers up by 3% (2019: 2.88m 2018: 2.80m) and sales revenues of £263m, up by 2%.
Eurostar continues to attract tourists from North America, with travellers valuing the speed and convenience of using high-speed rail to see more destinations whilst visiting Europe. The number of North American customers increased by 20% in Q2 2019 compared to the second quarter of last year as visitors headed for Europe’s iconic capital cities.

Celebrating 25 years
As Eurostar looks towards its 25th anniversary on 14th November 2019, customers have been invited to join in the celebrations with the launch of a ‘Press for Champagne’ button on the Eurostar app. Travellers on peak Friday evening trains throughout August between London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam can ‘press for champagne’ to be delivered to their seat, in the lead up to marking 25 years of Eurostar services.
